will be celebrating his 80th Birthday throughout 2022 with a series of concerts (some with special guest artists) around the world.

Sanderling's new discography detailing the numerous international awards he has picked up over the years including for his recent Tchaikovsky/Shostakovich with the London Symphony Orchestra his Mahler 6 with the St Petersburg Philharmonic ; and his highly

Sanderling will also be giving various national premieres of Weinberg's last opera The Idiot, further to his world premiere performances and recording (Forbes Magazine Top 10 classical recordings 2016) in Mannheim. 

 

In a career spanning over half a century, Thomas Sanderling has held positions with orchestras in major cities from Amsterdam and Berlin to Moscow and Osaka. He currently enjoys an acclaimed tenure as Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the Novosibirsk Philharmonic, undertaking numerous international tours each season, and is also Music Director Laureate of the Osaka Symphony.

Sanderling@80's exciting plans include the premieres of two significant works by Shostakovich (who had entrusted Sanderling with the German premieres of his 13th and 14th Symphonies). Sanderling is equally renowned internationally for his award-winning interpretations of the great Austro-German and Russian repertories (the latter which directly led to his appointment at the Novosibirsk Philharmonic).

•World premiere of Shostakovich's last orchestral work Suite on Verses of Michelangelo (in its original Italian text version) - Sanderling's acclaimed Ondine world premiere recording of this with the Helsinki Philharmonic and Gerald Finley

•The US, Asian and European (ex-Germany) premieres of the brilliant Three Orchestral Fragments from The Nose - the recording of Sanderling's 2017 world premiere with the Dresden Staatskapelle will be available Autumn 2020.
